Workplace Education

Training courses in reading, writing, and computer skills are:

  • offered for 2 hours each week during a 10 – 12 week term
  • offered exclusively to your employees
  • offered on-site at your workplace
  • provided in a non-threatening, peer environment
  • free and accessible to all employees, including those with lower literacy skills

Our Workplace Education programs include:

  • a basic workplace needs analysis to ensure organizational needs are addressed
  • academic assessments for all students to determine literacy levels and class placements
  • dyslexic profile assessments to assist students with suspected learning disabilities
  • specialized programming for students with diagnosed dyslexia and dyslexic profiles
  • instructor recruitment, orientation, training, and ongoing support
  • instructor and program evaluation
  • student progress evaluation

Course Descriptions:

Basic Literacy

Improve basic reading and writing skills while applying what you learn directly to the workplace documents you face every day.  What used to seem impossible will soon seem easy!  Suitable for students with low to moderate literacy skills.

Business Writing

Use your existing literacy skills to tackle all your workplace writing requirements from emails to full reports.  Use Clear Writing techniques and discover that you don’t need to be a scholar to write for the workplace.  It’s surprisingly simple! Suitable for students with moderate literacy skills.

Technology

Offered at three levels, learn computer basics ranging from keyboarding to full knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.  You won’t be intimidated by computers anymore!  Suitable for students with beginner to moderate computer skills, and low to advanced literacy skills.
